-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Backup = Acronis True Image 11

2. ATI does not partition. DDS does.

3. Gremlins where? in the vanilla backup?

4. Where are you trying to restore to? Can you open Windows Explorer and
create the folder there and then Browse to that folder instead of creating
it on the fly? Or with NUM lock on, press and hold ALT and use the numeric
keypad to enter 092 (ALT+092) for the reverse solidus.

BTW You are the first and only person I have ever seen refer to the
backslash as a reverse solidus. I didn't even know the word "solidus"
existed. I've been using "backslash" since the first time I ever touched a
personal computer (1986).

From my good (?) old days of using Ghost, I know that it is easier to have
all hard drives prepped and ready before beginning a session. It is also a
good idea to have a standard backup of some sort that you know is good.

At that time Ghost did clones to/from physical drives and to/from logical
drives. I had two hard drives each with equal capacity and equal
partitioning (Drive0 = C & D, Drive 1 = E & F). I did a manual backup of C
to D. (DOS was still around so it was far easier than it is today.) I then
cloned both to E & F. For those really critical files, such as my BBS batch
files (a few hundred lines) and the FidoNet message files I backed up to
floppy drives (no CD burners at the time).
