With respect I must demur; pse see ATI User Manual 14.3.4

Apologies for not making myself clear; I was referring to a "Vanilla ATI
Backup" (i.e. NOT a Clone)

I am trying to restore to a different partition (pse see Ch. 6.3.5) NOT
the original place from which the Backup came. This should enable me to
quietly review the Backup file and see it contains all the things I
expect ( and NONE of the things I don't expect [including gremlins]).
Only THEN would I be comfortable unleashing it to it's original source
location.

Your suggestion to use the Reverse Solidus via the NUM lock Alt method
is BRILLIANT and I shall attempt it sooon.
