-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Avira

Hi Gman,

I updated Malware and rebooted in Safe Mode, but the message was "Windows did
not start successfully. A recent hardware or software might have caused this."

You probably know the rest of the message, yet I will write it down.

"If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was
automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known
Good Configuration.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because
the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the
problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Known Good Configuration

Start Windows Normally"

Hear from you,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
These two files are part of your DirectX Graphics Driver set.  There should
be no reason for Malwarebytes to stop scanning when it reaches these files,
so maybe they have been somewhat corrupted.  Then again, it could be a
malware providing you with a false positive.

The first thing I would do is manually update Malawarebytes and then reboot
into Safe Mode and run a Full scan from there.  The DirectX files should not
be in use in Safe Mode.  This is also a good method to use to help unconver
certain kinds of malware that hide themselves when running in normal mode.

If the scan is able to complete in Safe Mode, it may find and repair
whatever appears to be plaguing your system.

I will wait to hear of your results before recommending any further steps
you can take before taking it to a malware expert.

Peace,
Gman
