Hi Stefan,
That's not good.  It's impossible to tell if your system is not allowing you 
to enter Safe Mode due to an infection or because of a system malfunction or 
corrupted system file.

Since the start of this thread was brought about because of a possible 
rootkit infection, I recommend that you enlist the aid of one of the online 
malware removal professionals.  If this is being caused by malware, they 
will be able to identify and help you remove it.  The one I recommended 
earlier is below.
