-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Attn Gman Missing file can't boot up

Cindy,
The original install CD has the ability to 'repair' the current
installation without wiping out all of the programs you've added since it
was installed. Without the original disk (or a replacement of the exact
same type (OEM, Retail, Upgrade, etc.), that type of fix is impossible. If
you can tell me a Make/Model for the system, I would then ask you if you
know of anyone who is running the same operating system (WinXP Home, XP Pro,
XP MCE, XP MCE2005, etc.) on a machine made by the same maker. If you do
AND could somehow produce your own serial number key, then you could use
their disk for the same purpose. If you still haven't located your own key
(which is usually on a sticker somewhere on the computer case), you could
always write to the maker and see if they can point you to a way of figuring
out your original serial number for that machine.

If you don't have a connection for an install disk, there are still a
few things we can do to fix the problem, but they are all much more involved
that what I've already discussed. As a result, I'd rather try to work
through the stuff I've already suggested before delving into anything more
complicated.

Peace,
GMan
