There is a fix at the Norton site for the update problem.  I'm sorry,
I don't have the URL as I'm traveling, but I just read about it in one
of my computer magazines during the flight from Canada to AZ.  The
same article rated Norton No. 1 over McCaffe (or however you spell it)
and rated AVG as best......because it's free <G>

I would suggest you keep Norton and get the update fix.  Norton is a
very good program that normally runs with no problems at all.
