If you just bought the RAM off the shelf at Wal-Mart or Office Depot you
MIGHT have bought the wrong type of RAM. Go to www.crucial.com and use
their utility to find the correct RAM and then compare to what you bought.
Some older and some newer motherboards need RAM in two sticks instead of
just one. Many in-between need just one. If your motherboard has room for
two banks of RAM and has only TWO slots to put RAM in, you need only one
stick at a time. If you have two banks of RAM and *FOUR* slots to put RAM
into, then you need two sticks at a time.
Incorrect RAM, mismatched RAM (such as 2 speeds) RAM from two different
manufacturers, RAM in the wrong bank or wrong slot can all cause a wide
variety of computer errors.
