Fan is not important, though always a good thing. Power supply, in MY opinion, is a must. Apparently, not all the manufacturers think like I do. :o) I have several hard drives in a AMS Venus DS3 external case: http://tinyurl.com/zy6vv This one is actually is for a SATA drive, and connects externally to your computer via USB or SATA. That is the reason for the higher cost. The ones I use look exactly the same, except they're for IDE drives, and they connect to my computer via USB only. These cost me $35 each from Newegg. I haven't bought one for awhile there, so not sure if they still carry it or what. Didn't see it there now. And... these have a fan, external power supply, and the case is aluminum for keeping the darn thing cool. ====================================== = SirTroth ====================================== = ICQ: 1717439 = YAHOO: SirTroth = SKYPE: SirTroth = XFIRE: SirTroth = AIM/AOL: SirTrothX = http://ut2004.sirtroth.com = MSN: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxxxx (don't email me here) ====================================== On Tue, 27 Feb 2007 18:47:55 -0500, rudy wrote: > I have a couple drives lying around, I need to get an external > case for the new SATA to use as an extra boot.
