It sounds like your registry got corrupted when you got the disk problems.
If you haven't installed much on your PC since the problem started then I
would recommend restoring a System Restore Point from a time just before you
had this problem. If that doesn't fix it then you can always restore to the
latest Restore Point and you will be back to where you started.
One point I would like to make, it was stated recently that a lot of people
are having problems restoring Restore Points and the fix is to run System
Restore from Safe Mode. That is where you reboot your PC, then hit F8 when
it says "starting Windows" and then choose "safe mode". Actually, when done
booting into safe mode I believe it asks if you want to restore a System
Restore Point.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Active X help
Hi all,
I´ve been having problems with Gmail, not being able to open the website in
standard mode. Gmail keeps saying I don´t have Active X enabled when I have
checked 3 times and it is enabled. I then ran Norton WinDoctor, which of
course found tons of errors which it fixed. But it couldn´t fix
everything... This is the message:
Invalid ActiveX/COM
The Active X/com sections of your Windows Registry contain one or more
invalid entries. This can cause documents to open improperly, applications
not to run or your computer to crash.
Help please!
Lil
