Sandi,
    PowerDVD is a commercial product and it looks like it has taken over the 
role of 'default' player for your DVD drive.  Do you recall installing it at 
some point?

    You might want to try opening up Windows Media Player and looking 
through the options for a switch that tells WMP to take over those duties. 
This would have the effect of taking PowerDVD out of the equation and saving 
you from having to upgrade it.  I have no way of knowing whether or not WMP 
will have any better luck playing the disk (the newer Digital Rights 
Management (DRM) garbage may get in the way), but at least it's free.
