One more question:  Would it be advisable to remove Power DVD and/or Windows 
Media Player?  Not advisable or immaterial? I know you said I did not need 
to remove Quick Time so guess I will leave it alone.  I noted when looking 
through the add/remove list of programs there were a number of updates to 
the Windows Media Player, one of them even updated an older version  (WMP 
6.4) in 12-06.  A previous security update was on my current version 10 and 
dated 6-06.
I am puzzled that I would have an update on an older version when that 
version  does not show up in my programs. Do I need to be concerned about 
that?
