Ok, that's some good info right there, Glo. What version of the free AVG is giving you trouble? If it's earlier than 8.0, it likely means that the older one is no longer supported and it's definitely time to update it to the latest version. Each new major version (6.0, 7.0, 8.0, etc.) introduces a more modern scanning engine that is capable of detecting more modern nasties than the previous major version. AVG had a bit of a problem with a part of its 8.0 series when it first came out, but those issues have been corrected for a while now.
