If you don't like it with the 2 panes that has the explorer tree 
and want to go back to it's default setting everytime you open a 
folder,  go to:

Tools,
Folder Options
Click on File Types Tab
Highlight Folder
Click Advanced
Highlight **open**
Click set default
Click OK
Click OK again

then close the folder window and reopen and you'll be back where 
the system tasks, etc. are on the left side.

oh... okay - you know at first I liked it but now I'm not so 
sure and I
tried to put it back but it wouldn't go - I usually end up using 
that 'x'
that I couldn't find to close the second pane - Dolores
