-=PCTechTalk=- Password Depot

On one of the other lists I belong to, someone posted a Lockergnome
suggestion to use a program called Password Depot. I recently tested
a bunch of password programs. I decided to close all my previous
E-Mail accounts and open new ones in order to curb SPAM. Perhaps
some of you can identify how many places you use your E-Mail address
as part of a login or signup process for software, etc. I decided to
capture all the passwords (login processes) in a password program so
it would be much easier the next time I have to do this.

Of all the programs I tested, I liked Passwords Plus and Password
Depot the best. Passwords Plus was great, but had a couple of bugs
in it. Since my test, they've issued an update and I don't know now
if the bugs were fixed. Because of the bugs, I focused on Password
Depot, It was a close competitor and I was happy. I've now used it
for a couple of months and have 36 passwords stored in it. It works
flawlessly! Great little program and it now has the "Coveted Master
NetLord Seal of Approval".

Password Depot is an easy-to-use and yet powerful password manager

It uses strong cryptography algorithms like BlowFish und Rijndael to
encrypt your files It uses a complex shredding method which conforms
to the norms of the US Department of Defense DOD 5220.22-M, to
destroy all files created by the program

Create practically uncrackable passwords with the integrated password
generator: instead of passwords like "sweetheart" or "John", which
can both be cracked in a few minutes, you now use passwords like
"g\/:1bmV5T$x_sb}8T4@CN?\A:y:Cwe-k)mUpHiJu:0md7p@<i" (with a
1-GHz-Pentium-PC, it takes approx. 307 years to guess this
password!).

Perfect local security: you can use the lock function to restrict
other user's access to your personal passwords

Extra high security: you can set an option to save your password list
after every change you make

Backup for your password lists

With the password generator you can create a random password

TopBar window that makes web surfing faster and more efficient

Auto Complete action that allows you to automatically complete fields
on a web page with user name and password

Auto Complete Sequence editor to create your own Auto Complete
Sequences

Organization of your passwords in groups

Import/Export of passwords from/to other password managers

You can copy to clipboard a password, its user name or URL with one
mouse click or drag&drop the password over the desired field of a web
page

The easy-to-use interface allows you to locate your passwords very
fast

You can open a password's website directly from the program

Friendly and easy-to-use interface, similar to the Windows Explorer,
that allows you to surf the password lists

I personally think we developed language because of our deep inner
need to complain.
