Yes I have had the same thing happen to me a lot.  It happens most often
on the Tower that has Windows 98SE installed, but also once in a while on
the Tower with Windows ME installed.  I do not know what causes it or a
solution though. You have described it so well!!

I have had a problem a couple of times lately that I never heard anyone
mention. When I tell the computer to shut down, it starts normally and I
get
the dark screen where it usually says It is now safe to turn off your
computer, but I don't get the message, just the black screen. If I press
ctrl alt delete, I get this picture on the screen, that looks just like
vertical blinds in black and yellow stripes. It even has the 3D effect
that
makes it even more like blinds. I just have to hit the power switch to
shut
down. Once I had this same thing happen when booting up. Anyone ever
experienced this?
