-=PCTechTalk=- Monitor Drivers

I am trying to help a friend.  He has a PacBell with a pnp2160 
monitor.  I had to reinstall 98se and an office program.  I went to 
the PacBell site and got the updated driver for the monitor, but 
when it installs it don't correct the problem and it only shows 2 or 
16 colors.  I have tried other drivers and nothing seems to help.  I 
have went through the selection of PacBell and then the monitor 
model and then tried to install the drive at start up and it don't fix it.  
Any one have any ideas other than the trash box?  I worked before 
the format and reinstall.
