Tried MRU Blaster as suggested by someone on this list. It didn't work (with 
WinXP).
I looked at my history list in IE6, ran MRU Blaster, checked the history 
list again and everything was still present as before! It did seem to empty 
my recent documents list, but that was all I could find that it did and 
AFAIC I don't need a big new system on my PC just to do only that...!
