-=PCTechTalk=- Help! My mouse won't "DO" anything!

I've just done a clean install of WIndows XP Professional and now my mouse
won't move or respond at all! It did after the first few reboots but then it
started getting sporadic and sometimes would stop working and I'd have to
reboot -- then after doing a few of the windows critical updates it stopped
working completely.

It was plugged in as a serial mouse, but after it stopped working I put the
adapter on that came with it and plugged it inot the PS2 port and it still
won't work.

Anybody have any clues on this one? Its really difficult to get around with
no mouse and I've tried a bit on MS knowledge base but haven't found
anything so far. I've removed it from the Device Manager and rebooted and it
found the hardware again and installed it but still no muose movement on the
screen.

Help!
