I've been noticing lack of hard disk space on my internal 20GB HDD. I've
noticed that my Pagefily.sys file is 1,536MB in size. This seems unusually
high, as I've recalled it usually being much smaller. Is this normal? If
not, can the file be deleted and will Windows (XP Pro) generate a new copy?
Also, I have a Seagate 120GB External HDD that, for reasons unknown, has
decided is no longer formatted. Seems like it de-formatted itself. I have
games and programs installed on this drive as well as backups of files I've
downloaded. Now Windows believes the disk isn't formatted and is asking me
if I'd like to do so now. The day before this happened it was hooked up,
powered on and functioning normally. It has not been moved, unplugged, etc
since it last worked normally. Do I really have to reformat this drive? And
what about the programs and games installed on it - surely there are
registry entries for these on the internal HDD which would no longer be
valid. I've said no every time Windows prompts me to format it in the hopes
it's a simple error that can be fixed.
