Gman,

Gmail does not do duplicate messages.  Since it has already processed the 
messages you
send to the group it will not process the same messages again.

You can avoid this by having two memberships in the group in the group or
two different addresses... sending with one and receiving with the other.
Of course, that will invite other problems but such is life.
