-=PCTechTalk=- AMD CPU Fan Change = System Fail

System is a MSI K7N2G mobo and AMD Athlon 2000+ cpu. After changing the
heatsink/fan assembly with a cylinder type unit, the system refuses to
boot up. Fan and hard drive spin up, but it doesn't go far enough to
send a video signal to the monitor. I've cleared the CMOS; swapped ram,
video card and cpu/heatsink/fan only to see same results. I can't
believe this severe of a failure can happen just by changing the
heatsink/fan assembly. Any ideas why?
