[pchelpers] Re: works/ wtlib / wordpad

Hello everyone,

I remember using Works with the library and had no problems with it. You
must first open up the word processor and then the library. On my system if
I have more than word processor running or more than one document open at a
time, the library will allow me to select which document I want to send the
highlighted text from the library to. The version of Works that I have
before upgrading to Word was 3.2 for Windows 3.1. I'm not sure why mine
works and yours does not. Most of the suggestions that have been given will
work. You could also just use the "pad" and when you have all of the
information in the "pad", use the copy all command and then paste into
whatever program you wanted to use and then print from.

I opened Microsoft Works.
I opened MS Word Processor.
I opened "New Document".
I opened WT Library.
              Bible.
              Chose Bible verse.
              Highlighted
              Clicked Send To
It asked if I wanted to send it to MS Works and I let it.
I checked on my blank page and it remained blank.
I also tried this without highlighting the text. It will only send to
"Write" (Word Pad.)

Someone locally suggested I make sure the cursor was on the page rather than
in the header. That made no difference.
It recognizes that I have the Works program open, it just won't get it
there!!

I did notice that Word Processor choice box after clicking on Library and
Properties. I can MAKE the choice, I just can't get it to remember it and DO
it! I will try using the tips John sent ... that is, after I get back home
from work today ...

So, to all, many thanks for your suggestions. Surely one of them will work.
I was getting anxious to print out the TMS material for January and when I
hit this snag I began getting nervous!!

Not having Works, I can't test this, but try this if you will please.

Open Microsoft Works FIRST, THEN open the WTLIB and highlight some
material to send.
Click on send. See if it gives you the option to send it to Works since
you have
that open. It may be just that simple.

Also, there is a free program that some I know are using that is similar
to Word.
  It's called Star Office.

That page has a review of it.

Here is a site to download Star Office if it would benefit you.

I've been through the bad virus deal over the weekend ... it wouldn't even
allow me
to access the Norton Antivirus web pages to find out how to repair. So...I
rebooted.
More strange things showed up but so far no viruses. Whew!
One strange thing is that I had Microsoft Word previously on this
computer, but after
rebooting with the store-provided discs, I only have Microsoft Works. I
can live with
that if I have to. But what I can't live with is NOT having the Watchtower
Library
send text to Works. It is only sending it to a Word Pad called "Write"
which has very
little editing properties. Can someone help me force the WT Library to
send text to
  Works and make it stay?
  Thanks in advance.
  Feel stranded in Nebraska. :-)
