Yes, John, i realized that VB is a programming language, but i was 
confused as to why one would need VB or any other programming language 
to control MS Office's Word or OpenOffice's Writer.

Scott, since http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_Basic seems to say that 
many are very critical of VB, what other programming languages 
(preferably ones that are compatible with OpenOffice) can you recommend 
to someone looking for a replacement for VB?
