[pchelpers] Re: video card

Hi again,

Sorry that I'm so stupid, but are you meaning the cable that is from my
monitor that plugs into the back of my pc? It has pins and a screw on
each side too?
I haven't sprayed that with anything, but I did take it out last night
and replug it in.

I don't have any 'contact cleaner'. I could buy some though.

I did a 'monitor test' where you unplug the monitor and then turn it on
and you see 3 colors, and so forth.

The results:

I saw the 3 colors just fine.
But...... on the left side of all the 3 colors it was darker. I didn't
know if that was from the lighting since my overhead lightbulb had
burned out and I hadn't replaced it and the light was a small lamp that
was on the other side of the case. I doubt it was from the lamp.

The monitor 'seems' to be working fine. But I am having these 'color
issues' where things are too dark a lot of times, like I have way too
much black in my colors.

My contrast and brightness are both at 100 percent. So, it's not like I
can 'lighten things up a bit'.

I don't think MOST people would even notice if they came back here to
use my computer though. But I'm the one on it the most, so I notice it.

If your colours are off/tinted etc you may have nothing more than a
loose or dirty VGA plug. Spray the pins with a little contact cleaner
and screw it back in place.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
