[pchelpers] Re: trouble with scanner win 98 se

It might be that your scanner and another device are using the same IRQ and
as such this would explain the conflict. Also is your SCSI card plug and
play? If it is then Win 98 Se should have no problem installing the card. If
it is not and you have an older machine, then your conflict might be of a
hardware issue and not an IRQ. If this latter case is true then I suggest
removing all cards form your system and starting with the SCSI card and then
add a card one at a time finishing up with plug and play cards last.

Either the card or scanner, of course, could just plain be bad...

If you haven't tried it already, try uninstalling the scanner and scsi
card completely, restarting, and reinstalling the drivers, if they don't
reinstall automatically.

Was Windows upgraded or installed fresh? Reinstalling fresh is usually
a better idea, if it's not too impractical.

I did a search on Google and got one good hit on those two devices;
check the SCSI card settings, and check that the buffer size is 32768
(32K). You may not have any settings, so don't look too hard.
