This is the reply I got back from Syncplicity.
I was still unable to uninstall after doing this. (For the first part, I
never saw a 'slider'.)
I went to account control settings and changed it so that I am the
administrator. I then opened add/remove to uninstall and I still get
the exact same message as before.
From Support at syncplicity:
Syncplicity is installed only for the Windows log on under which it was
installed. So it will not be visible in the programs control panel of
any other users, even the administrator.
To uninstall you would need to log in with the Windows user account you
originally used to install Syncplicity.
First you might try opening the 'Users' control panel and then going to
User Account Control settings. If the slider is all the way at the top
try moving it down to the middle or second from bottom settings.
This will lower the restrictions Windows places on
installation/uninstallation of programs. If this doesn't work, it sounds
like you need elevated privileges in order to complete this uninstall,
you would need to have your administrator (or yourself if you are the
administrator) log in on your computer and change your user account to
an Administrator account, if only temporarily.
You should then be able to complete the un-install process.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
