In fact, the standalone program also made a very bad impression 
on me when i tried it 5 years ago as my first antispyware. I was 
only quoting Eric Howe who has made the first scientific 
comparison of antispyware, and i figured it must have gotten a 
lot better and less scammy since he lists it as one of the top 5.

BTW, Giant came out best by far in that test...and Microsoft 
bought it a few days later! Now it's just a question of time 
before everyone gets Giant automatically and for free when they 
buy Windows and only a question of a bit more time before the 
competitors are killed... Let's hope that the author of the only 
free *and* altruistic program, Spybot, has the time and energy to 
continue updating his wonderful program and that enough people 
donate voluntarily...
