I have been testing Windows XP SP2- there was several versions-- until this
last version went RTM There are some programs are not compatible - also too
you might check to see if you need see if there is an update for your bios
for your motherboard, when installing you do shut down your present
firewall, I had to shut down my antivirus, prior to installing it I am
operating MS office 2003 pro -- I had issues with Outlook , issues with the
Raid Host Controllers if you look in your System Devices and check it all
you might have some conflicts( yellow Asterisks)-- that may be the cause of
freezing up and locking I would suggest you go see in the event log-- in
Administrative Tools to see where the problems actually are then go from
there are some programs and hardware are not compatible with the lasted
release of SP2 I had issues of rebooting- I could only do a cold boot , I
have since fixed all these problems--Do not run two firewalls if you prefer
one over the just shut one down-- there are some antiviruses are not
compatible with the latest release either. You might want to wait a month or
2 before accepting it from AU they are still addressing some issues yet. I
installed and am quite happy with it so far after I fixed all these
ssues. -- I have Windows 2000 pro and Windows XP Pro on this computer I
will tell you one thing I am still running an old scanner Hp Scanjet 5p--
it has a scsi card-- I am using it with the latest Windows XP pro sp2 with
no problem and that was to my surprise.-- Please have a pleasant day.
Jackie
