[pchelpers] Re: service pack 2 locking up the pc on install

Hi Re-Na

You're not the only one having problems with this sp2. Do you really need it?
As an end user not connected to a network in an enterprise environment, I would
just let this one go. If you have security tightened like having a good
firewall, updated anti-virus software, spyware and adware blocker, you should
do fine.

Here is a list of apps that would have problems with sp2 provided by Microsoft.

To understand XP SP2 go here, then decide if you really need or want this
patch.

If you decide you still want it, wait a while and let others find and catch all
the bugs before taking the plunge.

After so long, it just locks up and I have to cold boot the pc.
So, should I go in and remove it from add remove and then start the install
again, or just go in and try to install it again from the auto update icon in
the task bar?

I've actually had it freeze on me 2 or 3 times today now. And it takes forever!

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
