Re-Na,
My wife and I use Omni Page as well and we always follow these steps when
scanning.
1. Scan the document with Word open, we start the scanner from a button on
the Task bar of Word.
2. Make sure Omni Page is closed.
3. Save the Word document with the name we want.
4. Open the Word document and edit at our leisure.
And you are correct that both Omni and Word were open fighting with the same
document and Word usually wins as you learned.

Could be that was it. The OmniPage probably was still in edit mode. The
file did have the same name in both programs.
Thanks Cy.
