Change it from Windows; that will change the BIOS date & time also. If
you have a DOS (or Win9x) boot floppy, you can change it from a DOS
prompt.

You didn't mention what caused the computer to have trouble in the
first place.  Maybe whatever caused the problem caused the post-dated
files.
