Hi Cliff,
Go to start>run>type msconfig>enter>click startup. Uncheck the box for
anything you don't want to start automatically on startup. BE CAREFUL! There
may be things checked that your system needs to run properly so if you
aren't completely sure what something is or whether you need it don't mess
with it.

Subject: [pchelpers] removing unwanted icons
Friends:
I know this topic has been covered before, but how do I remove unwanted
items from my tray at bottom right of my screen? I'm running WIN98SE.
Also, how do I prevent certain programs, like Yahoo Messenger from starting
up automatically? I'd like to have a choice when to run these!
Cliff

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
