[pchelpers] Re: problem?

That sounds similar to what happened to me at the beginning of last week.

My main PC on Win 2kPro did an auto update recently and got seriously trashed
by an ActiveX problem associated with an IE update. I spent several hours
talking with Microlimp and they concluded that it must have been a third party
program fault ( yeah right). Every time I tried to access a file or program I
got a "site restricted" icon and warning message stating thet an ActiveX
control had locked the page. After failing to restore or repair from the
installation CD, I resorted to installing a new primary drive and putting a
fresh installation of win2K on. Fortunately all my data files are kept on a
slave drive, and the original primary is accessable as a second slave. All the
stuff is there to be recovered but the Windows system files have been
sabotaged.

Your friend should try a system restore or system repair. If he is getting
lock out or site security messages, he may have the same problem and
potentially the same solution.

Luck to him

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
