Hmmm. If the missing bit was all the way across, it would be a non
working jet on the head or similar. This was common among dot matrix
printers when one head pin got stuck. If it is only part way across the
page, then it is more likely an uneven distance between page and head.
It that case, check the following:
1) Paper stuck in the mechanism or paper train.
2) Feeder out of position.
3) Paper loading not correct- paper may not be held properly for
feeding. Check levers, clips etc.
Look very closely and let us know what you find.
