Well, that answers the speculation about whether or not to undo it.

(And according to Scott's explanation, the fact that compression speeded 
up your computer means that your CPU and RAM are fast compared to your 
hard disk, i.e. that your hard disk is at least slow in comparison and 
maybe slower than it should/could be. As he said:

On the other hand, as Scott also implied, the former slowness of the 
hard disk you observed may have been alleviated only partially by the 
compression because the real reason may be elsewhere and still there 
(hidden by the increased speed due to compression) and may be caused by 
the following problems he mentioned:

> or junk in the registry and temporary folders.  A run with CCleaner

You seem to run defrag regularly, but do you run a good registry cleaner 
once in a while? CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com) apparently cleans both the 
registry and the temporary folders. I still haven't tried it, but have 
heard only good stuff about it.
