Believe it or not I understand what you mean by background hosting, like
AT&T renting its lines to other phone companies, sort of.
There is no discernible pattern to the activity so far. At first I just
thought they were like the other ad sites like fastclick or valueclick.
Those sites show on my traffic log every time I go to certain webpages, like
pogo.com, for instance. But the browser has been trying to go to these sites
without any activity on my part. It just started a couple of days ago. I've
been monitoring my traffic for many months now and this activity is
definitely new. What's more the activity stopped as soon as I posted the
question about it.
