Just a thought on this. Windows control panel has a feature under the 
heading "Mouse" which allows buttons to be swapped for right or left 
handed mouse operation. If this is malfunctioning due to bad system/data 
files, there may be a solution. In W98 I would go into safe mode, run 
scandisk (both ways) in case disk surface errors are involved. Then run 
System File Checker (Start/Run SFC). Replace any files found corrupt. If 
that was the cause, it will clear up.
