You don't have to delete anything in your email program to get rid of
email in your "mailbox" on the ISP's server. All you have to do is get
rid of the check mark at "leave a copy of message on server" here:
tools, accounts, mail, properties, advanced
Or you can set a smaller number of days at "remove from server after X
days".
In addition, most ISPs offer a service usually called webmail, where you
can read and answer your mail on a browser page. This is handy if you're
traveling without your computer, and it also lets you get rid of mail
without even having to download it. That's especially important if your
traveling with your laptop and have to connect through a slow modem and
someone sent you an email with a huge attachment without remembering to
ask for permission first. Did you ever ask your ISP about this service
the last time you (erroneously) thought you had to get rid of emails in
your email program to get them out of your ISP's "mailbox"? If they
don't have webmail and you complain that "everybody" else that you know
does, they may realise they might/will lose other customers too.
You can show the size of emails in OE this way:
view, columns
