(no subject)

I'm not sure if my complaint can be resolved but thought I'd ask anyway.
 In Thunderbird, when you forward a message, square brackets appear in
the subject line along with FWD, and it looks like this: [FWD: "subject
header"].  Can the brackets be removed by default?  I always take them
out manually before sending as I think they look tacky but it's getting
tedious to have to edit the subject line before sending.  I've searched
Thunderbird help to no avail and the pref.js file is of no help.
