I always set my email programs to manual check (I'm on a dialup anyway). Eudora was definitely just installed when I noticed the problems - I had not even started it. Guess it's got a mind of it's own! I will check out the link you suggested though. Thanks! Susan ---- Begin Original Message ---- I am wondering - you say Eudora is installed but not running and still causes the problem - or is it minimised and in the background checking for new mail frequently? If this is the case, go into Options and turn off checking mail to manual, and that may fix the screen saver problem and the crashes - ie you need to look for something that is actually running and causing the problem. The other thing useful to do is get task manager(if XP etc) open and sort columns by CPU usage - this is an excellent way to see what tasks are running on the system.
