[pchelpers] Re: need simple way to internet connect Windows 95 and XP systems.

Bob, I think I need the router because some posters that have really
impressed
me with their knowledge said that it would allow me to share my cabel
connection
with my old Windows 95 Machine and the new Windows XP machine. I may have
led them into this with my bringing up the router and asking if it would
work.

I have in my old 95'er a card from RR to which their modem was connected to
before
I plugged their moden into the XP'er with a "Integrated Intel PRO 10/100"
with the title "Network
Interface". So, I can connect to cable with either computer, but not at the
same time.

I have in front of me two long and one short cables that were sent to me
today. I am told that
these are the cables to use with the router that I am [was] planning to get
at Best Buy. They
have those larger phone like plugs.

Crossover cable and connection sharing are over my head. As close as I
figured I
would share files across the internet by email more easily if I had a
connection.
on both computers. When I read about sharing files directly, 95 to XP
with software, etc., I felt that would really be over my head, but it would
be nice.
Heck, I am sitting here trying to figure out how to get my "Start" icon back
up on my
desk top. I'm planning on rebooting to accompolish this.

Maybe, I have the NIC cards in both computers and some cable, but as you
read this you
know it is coming from a novice.

Thanks,

Lou
