[pchelpers] Re: need help with baffling problem

Hi Jackie

Your ERD is not bootable. You boot with your boot
disks not to boot into Windows 2000 but to boot up
your computer so that it can read your Windows 2000 CD
in your CDROM Drive. Then you can install your Win2000
OS or do a repair. You can use the Recovery Console in
your CD ROM to repair your system.

Or you can boot from your CDROM and hit R to repair
when prompted when you run setup. In the Repair
Options dialog box press C to start the Recovery
Console. You'll be prompted for your admin password.
You can then troubleshoot from there.

By the way what happened? Did you install anything
that could cause this behaviour? A new adapter? New
driver?

Next time you find that you can't boot into Win2000
after installing a new driver or upgrading a driver,
restart your computer and hit F8 to get into the
Advanced Options menu and choose Last Known Good
Configuration. In most cases it would work.
Alternately you can boot to safe mode to remove
whatever driver you had installed and replace it with
your old working one if you know that's what is
causing your problem.

When all options in the Advanced Options menu don't
work, then the last option is Panic! §:^P
