I do not know anything about Linux but the program works fine on both XP
and Vista.
My daughter uses Photshop for professional work and she indicated to me
that Gimp2
is a surprisingly robust program for Free. Of course I realize that it
is a long way from
competing with Photoshop.

There was another program Paint .Net heard about recently but have no
experience with it.
Also free. Uses Microsoft .NET 2.0

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
