[pchelpers] mouse

A friend of mine needs help with this. What do I tell her?
Re-Na Hanson

We got a new mouse for the computer tonight...a Logitech optical mouse.
We unpluged the old mouse, plugged in the new one, turned on the computer, and
this is the message we got:

"Windows did not detect a mouse attached to your computer. You can
safely attach a serial mouse to your computer now.

To attach a mouse to a PS/2 mouse port, you must first turn the computer
off."

Which is exactly what we did (turn the computer off before we attached
the new mouse). And the new mouse wouldn't move the cursor at all. We have an
HP computer, could it be that the mouse isn't compatible with our computer?
The mouse came with a CD that is supposed to help the computer detect the new
mouse, I think, but when we put the CD in the drive (with the old mouse
attached because that was the only way we could get the cursor to move to "My
Computer" then click on the CD drive) it hung up once it started running the
CD. I'm frustrated and I don't know what to do!!!! We thought this would work
with any comp., as long as you had Windows 98 (which we do), but it doesn't
seem to like our comp. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
