Of course it is possible to infect a website. That is why so many are 
able to infect their visitors with malware. In your case, though, there 
is a possibility the infection is local. Therefore, scan the local 
machine first (preferably in isolation from the internet). Once that is 
known to be clean, address the website issue. If a file on the website 
is affected, the usual procedure is for the web master to upload fresh 
copies of the website files to the server, replacing the 
infected/affected ones.

If the problem still appears to affect the system after that, the 
contact the service provider with a description of the problem. The 
professionals can then deal with it locally.
