Thanks.

There are still many popups about, and the Google toolbar is still very
effective in stopping them; sometimes it's even been better than
Firefox's built-in popup blocker for at least some popups (as i reported
to Mozilla, and then they improved FF). The reason you're not noticing
the toolbar's continued effectiveness is that IE has had a built-in
popup blocker since SP2, so popups aren't getting through to where the
toolbar can/needs to stop them.

Billy, have you tried using Firefox? It has a better built-in popup
blocker than IE (i haven't seen a single popup for months), a built-in
Google search box, and you can even install the whole Google toolbar in
FF if there are other of its functions you'd like.

And are you aware that IE is insecure even with all patches applied?

According to statistics maintained by research firm Secunia, more than
40 percent of all IE flaw warnings between 2003 and 2005 carry a "highly
critical" or "extremely critical" rating (see chart here
http://secunia.com/graph/?type=cri&period=all&prod=11).
Even more worrying, a whopping 32 percent of the 63 advisories over that
period remain unpatched.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
