I don't think it will work with any program that creates a registry entry
when it installs. Doesn't each operating system have it's own registry?
For example if WinWord was installed while running Windows 2000 the
necessary registry info. was put in the win2K registry. Now while running
WinXP Jackie could navigate to the C: drive\ Windows\ Programs\ Microsoft
Office, and find the "Word.exe" icon.
She could right click it and choose "Send to>Desktop(create shortcut)".
But clicking the icon or the shortcut would not start WinWord because the
necessary stuff was not entered in the XP registry. The necessary stuff was
only in the Win2K registry....... I think she has to install the software in
BOTH Profiles.
I haven't tried this at home, I'm just guessing. But my story sounds
good........Prove me wrong?
-------------
BTW: I understand why someone would want two DIFFERENT operating systems,
like Win 98 and XP; or Linux and any Windows. But WHY would you want Win
2000 and XP? They are so much the same, and not much different. (like win2K
= NT ver. 4.5 and WinXP = NT ver. 5, right?)
smiles, J.
