Since the air vents of many (most) are at the bottom and since even
those that are only at the sides are easily partially blocked by a
pillow or blanket, the name laptop is a serious misnomer. And the ads
showing people using most brands in bed should be enough to be able to
sue all mobile computer manufacturers when the computers die due to
overheating due to being full of lint and due to blocked ventilation.
In other words, the answer is NO. Use a nice big, cool board or a very
large hard covered book and put something between that and the computer
that ensures good air flow.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
