Hi,
This was a common probably of machines around that time. Often there was a
setting on the motherboard (a jumper) to indicate which memory slots were in
use (often either the SIMMS or first SDRAM slot could be used, but not
both).
Most of the motherboards I encountered either had SIMMS or SDRAM, not both.
I would also recommend that it's not worth the trouble trying to get both to
work on a machine that old.
Also, be aware that many of those older Pentiums (not the Pentium II/III
etc) didn't cache more than the first 64MB of RAM, so access speed on the
65MB to 128MB range may be slow and noticeably so. Again, it's a matter of
trial and error really :)
