[pchelpers] just RAMbling

just something for the computer tinkerers like me in the group to know. (you
real computer techs. knew this 5 years ago and forgot already).....

I just added RAM to my mom's computer and had to take out the old for the
new to work.  Here are the details:

her computer is a 233 MHZ MMX.  It has 4 SIMMS slots AND two DIMM slots. It
already had 4- 8 meg SIMM boards (32768MB).  When I put in a 128 Meg SDRAM -
DIMM board it only counted up to 57 something MEG.  When I removed the 4
SIMM boards, but left the 128 Meg DIMM  board it counts up to 129 something
Meg like it should.

I take that to mean this mother board will not accept RAM of both genders.

Actually I hope no one ever needs this advice. Meaning, I hope no one ever
has to use a computer this old....
